Invisalign is a method of teeth straightening that uses removable clear plastic trays that fit right over your teeth. With Invisalign, no metal brackets or wires need to be attached to your teeth so you can barely see them. In fact, most people won’t even notice that you’re wearing clear braces.
How Invisalign Works
With Invisalign, you wear a series of custom-made clear trays over your teeth for a certain period of time. Every few weeks a new clear tray replaces the older one, which causes your teeth to gently and gradually straighten over time.
If you decide that Invisalign is right for you, a Brident orthodontist will create a 3-D model of your mouth by taking X-rays, digital images and impressions of your teeth. This model will be used to make a personalized plan for moving your teeth into the perfect position.
The Invisalign company will then use our orthodontist’s model and plan to create a series of clear plastic dental aligners that are customized to comfortably fit over your teeth. You’ll need to wear your trays (top and/or bottom depending on your plan) for at least 22 hours a day. You’ll switch to the next new set of trays every two weeks. Over time, your teeth will begin to straighten, and you’ll soon have the beautiful smile that you’ve always desired.
The Advantages of Invisalign
The benefits of using Invisalign clear braces are many, but one of the biggest is that unlike traditional braces, Invisalign’s removable clear trays allow your teeth to remain free from attached brackets and wires. This not only makes for a more comfortable experience, it enables you to eat, floss and brush with ease.
Also, because Invisalign trays are nearly invisible, most people won’t even know that you’re wearing them. And they offer flexibility, too. If you have an important social occasion, you can temporarily remove your Invisalign trays and put them back on at your convenience.
