What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over your broken tooth to restore its natural appearance and protect your tooth from further damage. If you have a piece of tooth that still has healthy roots but has broken off due to age, an accident, a weak filling, or any other reason, Brident may be able to fix it with a dental crown. Some dental procedures may also require the need for a dental crown (i.e. root canals).
What is a Dental Bridge?
If you’re completely missing one or more teeth, a dental bridge is a tooth replacement option to consider. A dental bridge involves placing dental crowns on both sides of your missing tooth and then inserting a replacement tooth between them. The replacement tooth is then cemented to the dental crowns on either side to create a strong and permanent connection (or “bridge”).
Dental bridges have many advantages including:
- They look and feel like natural teeth
- They last for a long time
- They don’t require removal to be cleaned
- They cost less than dental implants
If you have any questions about dental crowns or bridges, please contact Brident to make an appointment.
